Springfield, Massachusetts, held a parade down Main Street when the MGM Springfield opened on Aug. 24, 2018. It marked the completion of a $960 million project that created 3,000 jobs and sparked an economic renaissance in the community. The urban resort covers three square blocks of new LEED-certified construction and revitalized historic buildings. Centered on the state’s largest casino, it features a new seven-screen cinema, a bowling complex, a comedy club, shops, restaurants, and a five-story, 240-room boutique-style hotel.
For executive and midsize groups, the hotel offers two state-of-the-art ballrooms — the Bellagio and Aria — plus the smaller Borgata meeting room and Beau Rivage boardroom. A spacious terrace flanks the conference floor with a spectacular view of Springfield’s historic, castle-like State Armory. For larger groups, MGM manages the state-owned MassMutual Center across the street — an additional 100,000 square feet for meetings, as well as an 8,000-seat arena. MGM also stages events at Symphony Hall, where headliners range from Steve Martin and Boyz II Men to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
Guests between business and leisure activities can dine at the six eateries at the South End Market, plus Chandler Steakhouse, Tap Sports Bar, and Michael Mina’s Cal Mare, which draws inspiration both from Italy’s Amalfi Coast and New England’s fresh seafood. For after-hours mingling, options include the Lobby Bar, Knox Bar, and Commonwealth Bar & Lounge.
