Designed and built by John Hendricks, founder of the Discovery Channel, the 225-acre retreat takes its name from the high-desert hamlet of Gateway, which has a population of less than a hundred and has served as a “gateway” from Utah’s red-rock country to Colorado’s since 1904.

Guests with business on the agenda meet in 10,000 square feet of indoor facilities, ranging from a ballroom to an high-definition theater with stadium seating. The Kayenta Conference Center features 3,200 square feet of space with natural light and an outdoor courtyard. A dedicated meetings staff tailors programs to individual goals and ensures a seamless progression from business to pleasure. Other venues include an outdoor amphitheater, an auto museum, and limitless sites under the open sky. Accommodations start with the Kiva Lodge, which houses 38 guest rooms near the pool, lobby, and Adventure Center. They go on to the Kayenta Lodge’s 20 rooms, which are centered on a colorful courtyard, as well as the Premium Casitas, which offer separate bedrooms and living quarters, along with amenities such as fire pits and custom furnishings.
